The Importance of Keeping a Cleanroom Clean

The Importance of Keeping a Cleanroom Clean

A cleanroom is a special environment designed to ensure cleanliness in industrial production processes. Cleanroom is also called dust-free room or clean room. It is the basis of pollution control. Controls airborne particulate concentration to achieve appropriate particulate cleanliness levels. Cleanroom refers to the elimination of particles, harmful air, bacteria and other pollutants in the air within a certain space, and the indoor temperature, cleanliness, indoor pressure, air flow speed and air flow distribution, noise, vibration and lighting, static electricity A specially designed room is controlled within a certain range of needs. The main purpose of this environment is to reduce the number of particles in the air, especially in the microscopic size range, to prevent any impact on product manufacturing.

1. Dust particle standards: According to the US federal standard (Federal Standard 209E, 1992), cleanrooms are divided into six levels, namely level 1, level 10, level 100, level 1000, level 10000 and level 100000. These ratings are based on the maximum number of dust particles in the air, usually expressed in counts per cubic inch.
2. Dust particle size: According to standards, the size of dust particles is usually assumed to be 0.5 microns. However, if the particle sizes vary, the rating should be expressed in terms of particle density at a specific size.
3. Cleanliness requirements: Integrated circuit manufacturing has very high requirements for cleanrooms, usually requiring cleanliness levels above Class 1000. This is because tiny dust particles can have adverse effects on the manufacturing and performance of integrated circuits.
4. Wearing regulations: In order to maintain the cleanliness of the cleanroom, personnel entering and exiting need to follow specific wearing regulations. In Class 10000 and Class 100000 cleanrooms, personnel must wear cleanroom gowns, cleanroom anti-static shoes, hats and masks. In cleanrooms of class 1000 and above, personnel need to wear special clean jumpsuits, cleanroom shoes, gloves and masks.
5. Possible effects of dust particles: Dust particles may have a negative impact on the manufacturing and performance of integrated circuits. For example, metal dust particles can cause wires to short-circuit, while acidic dust particles can cause metal corrosion, reducing product reliability.

Overall, cleanrooms play a vital role in ensuring a clean production environment in microelectronics and semiconductor manufacturing.

Cleanroom cleaning is also a vital task for pharmaceutical companies, because the cleanliness of the cleanroom environment directly affects the quality of the production process and the safety of the product. However, many pharmaceutical companies have some confusion when choosing the key tool of lint free cloth. Swwip will introduce some quality standards for cleanroom cloth below, for your reference and communication only, to ensure efficient and effective cleaning work.

1. Total number of particles in liquid environment: Cleanroom wipers will release particles during use in liquid environment, so simulation testing is required to calculate the number of particles ≥0.5 microns and ≥5 microns. This is usually expressed in the unit of "million particles/m2". The smaller the number of particles, the better the performance of the dust-free cloth.
2. Total number of unladen particles: This test measures the number of unladen particles released by a lint-free cloth under dry conditions, taking into account the number of ≥0.5 micron particles released under stress similar to actual use. The unit is usually "Particles/m2/ft3".
3. Fiber release number: By simulating specific stress, such as use in a liquid environment, the total number of fibers released from the dust-free cloth is measured. Generally, the number of fibers >100 microns is calculated, and the unit is fibers/square meter.
4. Non-volatile residue test.
5. Adsorption capacity: the adsorption speed and adsorption capacity of the dust-free cloth. The faster the adsorption speed, the greater the adsorption capacity, and the better the performance.
6. Metal ion content.

These quality standards are critical because they ensure that the cleanroom cloth does not introduce contaminants, performs cleaning tasks effectively, and keeps the cleanroom environment clean and safe.
However, it is worth noting that lint free cloth is not just a general term. Different lint free cloth manufacturing companies have different production environments and quality standards. Many dust-free cloths are not produced in a strict dust-free environment, and such products themselves may be sources of pollution. Therefore, when choosing dust-free cloths, companies need to ensure that they purchase products from reliable suppliers that comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
In addition, some companies may try to make their own lint free cloth wipes, but this approach may lead to poor cleaning results because it only removes visible dirt while producing more particles, which may potentially affect product quality threaten.
In a cleanroom environment, the quality and selection of cleanroom cloths are crucial. By adhering to quality standards and selecting trusted suppliers, pharmaceutical companies can ensure the high quality of sterile lint free cloth wipes, thereby maintaining the purity of the cleanroom environment and the quality of their products. Clean room cleaning is not only a routine task, but also an important guarantee for ensuring the safety and quality of pharmaceutical products.
